Amir Khan will face Luis Collazo in a welterweight clash of former titleholders in support of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s RING, WBC and WBA 147-pound championship defense against Marcos Maidana on May 3 from the MGM Grand on Showtime Pay-Per-View, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer informed RingTV.com moments ago.

"Khan versus Collazo is done," said Schaefer, "and they're going to be fighting underneath the Floyd Mayweather versus Marcos Maidana card. I think that it is a huge addition to the card and it's a terrific matchup."

Khan (28-3, 19 knockouts) will pursue his third straight win in his 147-pound debut against Collazo (35-5, 18 KOs), who won for the fourth straight time when he knocked out Victor Ortiz in the second round in January.

"Luis Collazo is obviously coming off of a high with his spectacular performance against Victor Ortiz at the Barclays Center where he knocked Victor out," said Schaefer. "And for Amir Khan, it's his debut at 147 and he's going to do it against a natural welterweight in Collazo, a former world champion and a big guy who has fought his entire career at that weight."

Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs) was last in the ring for September's majority decision over Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, adding Alvarez's WBC 154-pound title to the RING and WBA championships he already owned in the division. Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) scored two knockdowns against Adrien Broner, earning the WBA's 147-pound title in victory last December.
