British junior middleweight contender Brian Rose is set to face unbeaten WBO titleholder Demetrius Andrade on June 12.

Although no details have been confirmed by the American’s camp just yet, UK promoter Eddie Hearn, who looks after Rose, revealed the 29-year-old from Blackpool, Lancashire, will be travelling to the States this summer to challenge Andrade (20-0, 13 knockouts).

“I'm delighted that Brian will get his shot at WBO champ Demetrius Andrade,” said Matchroom supremo Hearn on Thursday. “He came through a tough final eliminator against Javier Maciel – and Brian and his trainer have been building a plan ever since to beat Andrade.

“It's a huge opportunity for Brian and one I know he is relishing.”

Rose (25-1, 7 KOs) echoed those sentiments and warned that while he will be a major underdog against the 26-year-old from Rhode Island, he is determined to cause a huge upset.

“It’s a dream come true for me and something that I have wanted since I starting boxing at the age of nine, “ said the Englishman.“It's going to be a great experience for me and my trainer Bobby to go to America and compete for the title. But we’re not going there to make up the numbers. I’m bringing that belt back to the UK.

“Andrade is no doubt a world class fighter. He’s got the title and an impressive amateur pedigree. But I’ve got experience on my side. I’ve had more fights and more 12 rounders. I’ve been in with better and tougher opponents so this fight doesn't and won't faze me.

“On June 14 I will prove my critics wrong once again, I'm going to return as a world champion.”

A venue for Andrade-Rose is still to be announced but the bout is expected to feature on the undercard of WBO junior welterweight holder Ruslan Provodnikov’s next defense.
