Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Hank Lundy on HBO for June 14?
Ruslan Provodnikov hasn't fought since his thrilling TKO win over Mike Alvarado in October, but he might have a dance partner for his first bout of 2014.
Hammerin' Hank Lundy informed RingTV.com on Friday that he could be fighting for Provodnikov's WBO junior welterweight title June 14 on HBO.
"He has no name so once again the Hammer is stepping up to the plate so he should do the same," Lundy said. "I will beat anyone they put in front of me. It's my time."
Lundy (24-3-1, 11 knockouts) is a deserving challenger. He easily outpointed Olusegun Ajose last year, and then put on a clinic against once highly regarded prospect Angelo Santana on ShoBox: The New Generation in February.
It would also be a good style matchup. Lundy is never in a bad fight, and Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KOs) is one half of RING Magazine's 2013 Fight of the Year.
There have been rumblings that a bout between Provodnikov and Antonio DeMarco was being discussed, but this is a better matchup. DeMarco's best days are behind him and his top weight is at 135 pounds.
