HBO will move off the date of April 26 that had been reserved for a since-canceled clash between WBA middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin and Andy Lee, according to a statement form the network to RingTV.com.

Golovkin pulled out of the bout due to the death of his father, Gennady Ivanovich Golovkin, who passed as the result of a heart attack on Feb. 18.

Golovkin is observing a period of mourning, a tradition in his culture, and spend time with his family in his native Kazakhstan.

"As you know, Gennady Golovkin is unable to fight on April 26 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden," read the statement.

"So with Gennady unavailable to us, HBO is moving off the date. We will move on to our other boxing programming initiatives for the spring and early summer."
