Peter Quillin addressed the notion that he is the "weakest" of the 160-pound beltholders as well as his presence on a Bernard Hopkins undercard, among other things, during a recent interview with RingTV.com. 

Quillin (30-0, 22 knockouts) is scheduled to make the third defense of his WBO belt on April 19 when against Lukas Konecny (50-4, 23 KOs) at The DC Amory in Washington, an event that he headlined the IBF's Hopkins in a 175-pound unification bout against WBA counter part Beibut Shumenov on Showtime.

Quillin, 30, also expressed his desire to face RING and WBC counterpart Sergio Martinez, the WBA's Gennady Golovkin, and the IBF's Felix Sturm.

In his last fight in October, Quillin stopped Gabriel Rosado in the 10th round of a bout that took place on the undercard of Hopkins' unanimous decision over Karo Murat at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

"A lot of people have criticized me for fighting on undercards and stuff, but I'm fighting on the undercard of a legend as far as what Bernard Hopkins has accomplished during his career. God gives everybody their moment to shine, I'm the the next star. So I'm just blessed to be where I am, because whenever I can get advice from Benard Hopkins, then it's always helpful. It has benefited me in ways that I would have never, ever thought it would," said Quillin.

"I became the middleweight champion, and there were a lot of people who I told that it was going to happen they shooed me away and they thought that it could never, ever happen. So at this point in my career, my motivation is to become legendary in some aspects. Bernard Hopkins has earned a lot of accolades during his career, and I can't really say that I can trace what he has accomplished, but I can do whatever I can do within being myself."

Quillin believes that his opponents see him as being among the most vulnerable of the titleholders, but says their aggression results in action-packed bouts during which he has floored his past four rivals a combined 12 times.

"Because guys think that they see a weakness in me, I think that it means that I will always have a fight that can be made  It's funny to always hear guys calling me out, but they never call the other champions out. When I was calling out Sergio Martinez, being pound-for-pound one of the best middleweights out there, people thought that I was looking too far ahead of my time to be doing that. I was just letting people know that I was shooting for the stars. But I was calling out everybody," said Quillin.

"I've called Gennady Golovkin out. I called Sergio Martinez out. I called Felix Sturm out. I called Matthew Macklin out. So I've never been scared. What gives me that edge is that I've got that winning spirit in me. I'm just a winner. I'm here to tell everybody out there that it's going to take a lot to break my spirit, so if you can't handled being knocked down, then it's going to be really tough to beat me. That they think that I'm the weakest of the middleweight champions, I just think that it's a win-win situation. For people to call out what they would say that they think is the weakest middleweight, that just lets me know what kinds of fighters they are."

Like previous competitors, Quillin strongly insists that Konecny will come to fight.

"He's 50-4 with 23 knockouts, and he's making his debut in the United States and he's got a great opportunity in front of him. I think that he realizes the kind of opportunity that he has," said Quillin. 

"I think that he'll come and try to put his best foot forward. I think that he wants to be that middleweight champion, so I expect him to come hard and to do whatever he can. He's fought guys and he stopped them, so I think that he will try to do the same thing here.

"I've been undefeated for nine and a half years, and I'm trying to be one of the pound-for-pound top 10 best in the world. I think that's bout to come about very soon."
