Chad Dawson signs with Al Haymon

Former RING and WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson has signed with Al Haymon, Haymon associate Sam Watson informed RingTV.com on Friday. 

Dawson (30-3, 17 knockouts), a 31-year-old southpaw out of New Haven, Conn., joins an impressive stable of fighters who are aligned with Haymon, including Floyd Mayweather Jr., Danny Garcia, Marcos Maidana, Adrien Broner, Lucas Matthysse, Peter Quillin, Deontay Wilder, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Devon Alexander, Paulie Malignaggi and Luis Collazo.

"We'll have him fighting at 175 pretty soon," said Watson, "probably in May."

Dawson has suffered consecutive stoppage losses in the 10th and first rounds to RING super middleweight champion Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson, who won Dawson's RING and WBC championships.



Prior to facing Stevenson, Dawson earned a majority decision win over Bernard Hopkin to become RING and WBC champ.

Dawson also owns wins over Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson (twice each), each over Tomasz Adamek and Adrian Diaconu, and has a loss by 11th-round technical decision to ex-beltholder Jean Pascal in August 2010.

Dawson dropped to is 168 to face Ward, who dropped him three times in September 2012, before falling to Stevenson last June.
