New weight class. Same results.

In his fourth fight since moving up from 108 pounds, former WBA strawweight and junior flyweight titleholder Roman Gonzalez tore through flyweight Juan Kantun on Saturday night in Chiapas, Mexico, to win by sixth-round technical knockout.

The unbeaten Gonzalez (38-0, 32 knockouts) used his power and activity to overwhelm Kantun early in the round, knocking the Mexican to his knee with a flurry of punches along the ropes.

When the referee finished the standing eight count, Gonzalez closed in, landing a left hook that hurt Kantun before dropping him again with a perfectly placed right cross to the solar plexus. Kantun (21-6-3, 15 KOs) remained on his knee for the ten count at the 1:01 mark.

Gonzalez, 26, has now stopped his last four opponents, with current WBO/WBA flyweight titleholder Juan Francisco Estrada being the last man to hear the final bell against him.

In the co-featured bout, previously unbeaten junior featherweight prospect Daniel Rosas suffered his first career loss, being stopped in seven rounds by former title challenger Rodrigo Guerrero in a battle of Mexico City natives.

Rosas (17-1-1, 11 KOs) was dropped in the first round by the southpaw Guerrero (20-5-1, 13 KOs), who had competed most of his career at 115 pounds. The fight evened out in the middle rounds before Guerrero hurt and wore Rosas down, stopping him at the 2:26 point.
