Tyson Fury put Joey Abell down four times and stopped him at 1:36 of the fourth round of a scheduled 10-round heavyweight bout on the Dereck Chisora-Kevin Johnson card Saturday in London.

Fury (22-0, 16 knockouts) fired his jab from the opening bell but the fight was competitive for two-plus rounds. Then, about two minutes into Round 3, Fury put Abell (29-8, 28 KOs) down with a straight right in what was the beginning of the end.

Fury put Abell down once more in the third and twice in the fourth, prompting the referee to stop the fight.

Fury hadn’t fought since he stopped Steve Cunningham in seven rounds in April of last year. He was supposed to have fought David Haye but that fight fell out.

The 6-foot-8 Briton could face Chisora next, assuming Chisora beats Johnson.

Abell is from Coon Rapids, Minn.
