J’Leon Love, Mickey Bey on Feb. 28 Mayweather Promotions card
Super middleweight J’Leon Love and lightweight standout Mickey Bey will face opponents to be determined on a Feb. 28 Mayweather Promotions card at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center in Central New York, Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced on Friday. The bout will be featured on ShoBox: The New Generation.
Mayweather, who is presenting the card in association with AASHA Record Breakers, was at ringside on Dec. 6 when Love and Bey made their last appearances, at the Little River Casino in Shelton, Wash.
In his first 168-pound bout, Love (16-0, 9 KOs) scored a sixth-round knockout over Lujuan Simon, who had last been in the ring for a first-round stoppage loss to Gennady Golovkin in December of 2011.
Love, 26, moved up to 168 pounds for his first start under trainer and former light heavyweight world champion, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad.
Prior to facing Lujuan, Love had last been in the ring in May of last year for a split-decision victory over Gabriel Rosado that became a no-decision after Love failed his post-fight drug examination.
Bey (19-1-1, 10 KOs), 30, used a single crushing left hook to deposit Carlos Cardenas on his back for the knockout at 2:22 of the third round. In victory, Bey rebounded from his 10th-round stoppage loss to John Molina in July of last year.
