Lamont Peterson vs Jean 2 nicholas kamm afpgetty

Many RING-rated fighters were in action during a busy weekend of boxing but IBF 140-pound titleholder Lamont Peterson was one of the few who moved up the magazine’s divisional rankings.

Cruiserweight: No. 1-rated Marco Huck (37-2-1, 26 knockouts) stopped No. 7-rated Firat Arslan (33-7-2, 21 KOs) in their rematch. Huck is already No. 1 so he can’t advance bur Arslan will drop to No. 8 with Dmytro Kucher (21-1, 15 KOs) moving up to No. 7.

Middleweight: No. 9-rated Curtis Stevens (26-4, 18 KOs) bounced back impressively from his loss to No. 1-rated Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25 KOs) stopping unrated Patrick Majewski. Stevens is showing more consistency but there will not be any movement in the ratings.

Junior middleweight: No. 10-rated Jermell Charlo (23-0, 11 KOs) had a solid points win over unrated but battle-tested former middleweight title challenger Gabe Rosado, justifying Charlo’s ranking. Charlo will move up to No. 9 and Ishe Smith (25-6, 11 KOs) will move down to No. 10.

Junior welterweight: No. 5-rated Lamont Peterson (32-2-1, 16 KOs) bounced back from the loss to Lucas Matthysse to get a deserved win over No. 8-rated Dierrry Jean (25-1, 17 KOs). Peterson will move up one spot to No. 4 with Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23 KOs) moving down to No. 5. Jean will remain at No. 8.

Junior lightweight: No. 2-rated Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28 KOs) won a wide decision over tough No. 5 Juan Carlos Burgos (39-1-3, 20 KOs). No change.

Junior bantamweight: As of this writing No. 3-rated Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (24-3-1, 22 KOs) won a first round TKO. The opponent and stats are mysterious and unnamed at this time.

Flyweight: Previously unrated Amnat Ruenroeng (12-0, 5 KOs) won the IBF title from No. 10 Rocky Fuentes (35-7-2, 20 KOs). Fuentes will be removed from the ratings and be replaced at No. 10 by Ruenroeng.
