Bryant Jennings passed an important test on Saturday, stopping fellow undefeated heavyweight prospect Artur Szpilka at 2:20 of the 10th and final round on the Mikey Garcia-Juan Carlos Burgos card in New York City.

Jennings (18-0, 9 knockouts) and Szpilka (16-1, 12 KOs), both capable boxers, fought on fairly even terms for five-plus rounds. However, a left to Szpilka’s belly forced the left-handed Pole to take a knee and Jennings seemed to pull away from there.

The Philadelphian picked up his activity, particularly to the body, and Szpika couldn’t keep pace the second half of the fight.

The fight seemed to be headed toward a decision when Bryant landed a wicked left hook to the jaw, which hurt Szpilka badly and left him hanging on the ropes. Szpilka tried to continue but couldn’t defend himself, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
