A very busy weekend of boxing caused significant movement in THE RING’s divisional and pound-for-pound ratings.

Pound for Pound: No. 9-rated Adrien Broner’s unmistakable loss to Marcos Maidana will cause him to be dropped from the Pound-for-Pound ratings. His replacement is No. 1-rated super middleweight Carl Froch (32-2, 23 knockouts), who comes in at No. 10. Saul Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 knockouts) moves up to Broner’s former No. 9 ranking.

Heavyweight: No. 1-rated Kubrat Pulev (19-0, 10 KOs) forced unrated Joey Abel to retire in the fourth round.  No change.

Light Heavyweight: No. 9-rated Juergen Braehmer (42-2, 32 KOs) scored a wide margin decision over unrated Marcus Oliveira.  Previously unrated Beibut Shumenov (14-1, 9 KOs) returned after 18 months away, stopping unbeaten and unrated Tamas Kovacs in three rounds. No. 8-rated Karo Murat, who has fought only once in the past 18 months – a unanimous decision loss to No. 1-rated Bernard Hopkins, will be dropped. Shumenov will enter at No. 6 and Braehmer will move up one spot to No. 8.

No. 7 – Tony Bellew (20-2-1, 12 KOs)

No. 8 – Braehmer

No. 9 – Isaac Chilemba (21-2-2, 9 KOs)

No. 10 – Jean Pasccal (28-2-1, 17 KOs)

Middleweight: No. 6-rated Martin Murray (26-1-1, 11 KOs) won an eight-round decision over unrated Sergey Khomitsky. Murray looked flat so his rating will be swapped with Mathew Macklin. Macklin (30-5, 20 KOs), who is coming off a 10-round decision over unbeaten prospect Lamar Russ goes to No. 6, with Murray now at No. 7. No. 9-rated Max Bursak (29-1-1, 12 KOs) won an eight rounder over unrated Gari Abjiani.

Welterweight: Previously unrated Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten No. 6-rated Adrien Boner (27-1, 22 KOs). Broner, who is also rated at lightweight, drops to No. 10. Maidana re-enters the rankings at No. 9. We’ll wait to see what weight Broner chooses to fight at following his first loss before dropping him from either the 147- or 135-pound rankings. No. 9-rated Keith Thurman (22-0, 20 KOs) stopped unrated Jesus Soto Karass in nine rounds, which moved him up two spots. Nos.1 through 5 remain the same:

6.  Shawn Porter (23-0-1, 14 KOs)

7. Thurman

8. Paulie Malignaggi (33-5, 7 KOs)

9. Maidana

10. Broner

Devon Alexander (25-2, 14 KOs) will be dropped from the ratings.

Lightweight: No. 8-rated Kevin Mitchell (36-2, 26 KOs) stopped unrated Karim El Ouazghari (15-4-2, 4 KOs) in nine. No change.

Junior Lightweight: No. 10-rated Sergio Thompson (28-3, 26 KOs) stopped unrated Cesar Chavez.  No change.

Junior Featherweight: No. 3-rated Leo Santa Cruz (26-0-1, 15 KOs) won a unanimous decision over unrated Cesar Seda. No. 8-rated Cristian Mijares (49-7-2, 24 KOs) stopped unrated Jovanny Soto in three. No change.

Bantamweight: No. 7-rated Jamie McDonnell (23-2-1, 10 KOs) beat unrated Abgail Medina. No change.
