THE RING’s ratings update: Karo Murat, who lost a unanimous decision to IBF light heavyweight titleholder Bernard Hopkins, dropped in the 175-pound rankings; Peter Quillin, who scored a 10^th-round TKO of game Gabriel Rosado, took a small step forward at middleweight; and Kell Brook, who remained unbeaten with a fourth-round stoppage of Vyacheslav Senchenko, held his place at welterweight.

A recap of this weekend’s fights:

At heavyweight, undefeated KO artist Deontay Wilder looked a little more controlled before he took out a game Nicolai Firtha in four rounds. Wilder, who has won 30 consecutive bouts by KO, looked good but Firtha isn’t the sort of guy to beat to crash our top 10. No changes in the rankings.

At light heavyweight, Hopkins just keeps on tickin’. “B-Hop” had a dominant win over tough German challenger Murat. Hopkins is our No. 1-rated light heavyweight and cannot go higher unless he fights for our championship (held by Adonis Stevenson) but Murat will drop from No. 6 to No. 8, advancing Tony Bellew and Isaac Chilemba.

At super middleweight, Arthur Abraham won a wide decision over Giovanni De Carolis to set up a third meeting with Robert Stieglitz next year. No change.

At middleweight, Quillin proved he is a top five 160 pounder with his 10^th-round TKO of Gabe Rosado, who was stopped when the doctor advised the referee to halt the fight due to a nasty cut above the left eye. Although Rosado insisted he could still see, a doctor’s advice to stop the fight is rarely ignored by the referee. Quillin will move up one spot in the ratings switching with Felix Sturm. Quillin is now at No. 4 and Sturm at No. 5.

At junior middleweight, Brian Rose eked out a 12-round split decision over hard punching Javier Maciel in a tough fight. Rose showed his courage in how he battled through a bad cut on the bridge of his nose. Jack Culcay gained a measure of revenge over Guido Pitto, winning a UD in a good fight. No change.

At welterweight, Brook stopped Senchenko in four rounds, dropping the former beltholder in the third and fourth rounds. Brooks was rocked in the fourth before roaring back to get the stoppage later in the round. Brook is already highly rated in our 147-pound rankings at No. 4, so no movement for him.

Senchenko was 34-1 going into their fight but the Ukrainian was not good enough to merit elevating Brook above any of THE RING’s top three welterweights: Tim Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao. No change.

At junior lightweight, Bryan Vasquez scored a fifth-round technical decision win over Rene Gonzalez. Vasquez has bounced back strongly after losing to titleholder Takashi Uchiyama last year. No change.

At junior featherweight, Genesis Servania scored a career best win stopping Rafael Concepcion in two rounds. Daniel Rosas won a decision over game Juan Alberto Rosas. Rey Vargas gained good experience going the distance for the first time and beating Yuki Murai UD. No change.

At junior bantamweight, Arthur Villanueva beat Edgar Martinez with a first-round stoppage. No change.

At junior flyweight, titleholder John Riel Casimero stopped Felipe Salguero in the 11th for a very solid win. Salguero had previously got stopped by rugged Luis Alberto Rios in 11 and had gone the distance with Donnie Nietes. Casimero was much more dominant beating Rios. No change.
