Alvarado overweight, has two hours to make it

Mike Alvarado’s 141 pounds compared to 139.8 for rival Ruslan Provodnikov was over the 140-pound junior welterweight mark at Friday’s weigh-in, and the WBO beltholder will be given two hours to make the required limit.

For another bout, former lightweight titleholder Juan Diaz and rival Juan Santiago were at 135.5 and 134.5, respectively.

Provodnikov weighed in first, followed by Alvarado, at approximately 3:20 mountain time for the bout, which will happen on Saturday at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colo., a suburb of Denver, near Alvardo’s hometown of Thornton.
