Ramirez, Magdaleno return on Saturday

Undefeated middleweight and junior lightweight prospects Gilberto Ramirez and Jesse Magdaleno will be in separate bouts on Saturday night at the Glendale Civic Center in Glendale, Calif., to be televised on Uni Mas, Top Rank has announced.

A 21 year old from Mazatl├ín, Sinaloa, M├®x., Ramirez (25-0-1, 20 knockouts) was last in ithe ring in April for a third-round knockout of Juan De Angel. Ramirez will face Julio Cesar Garcia (45-8, 37 KOs).

Magdaleno (15-0, 11 KOs) will be in the ring against Jose Araiza (34-8-1, 25 KOs), having scored three knockdowns in his last fight — a fourth-round stoppage of Henry Maldonado in June.

Meanwhile, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum will be in Tokyo on Sunday, where Japan’s 2012 Olympic gold medalist Ryota Murata will make his pro debut at the Ariake Coliseum against Akio Shibata (21-7-1, 9 KOs) in a middleweight bout.

The event is being promoted by Teiken Boxing, which serves as co-promoter to Murata, who signed with Top Rank in June.

The Murata-Shibata card also includes the return of former featherweight and junior lightweight titleholder Jorge Linares (33-3, 21 KOs) in a lightweight bout against Berman Sanchez (26-5-3, 18 KOs).
