The action of this past weekend resulted in movement in a number of THE RING’s divisional ratings, most notably Edwin Rodriguez, who advanced in the super middleweight rankings after blasting light heavyweight contender Denis Grachev in one round.

Here’s the rundown of last week’s ring action:

At cruiserweight, RING-rated Dmtro Kucher lost a close majority decision to Ilunga Makabu.  This is one of the deepest divisions in boxing so a close loss can have wide ranging effects. Makabu will move in the ratings to No. 9; Kucher will drop to No. 10 and Rakhim Chakhkiev, who was stopped a few weeks ago by Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, will be dropped from the top 10 ratings.

At super middleweight, Rodriguez scored a first-round TKO over RING-rated light heavyweight Grachev in a catchweight bout.  Although Grachev showed such toughness in previous fights, he will be dropped from the light heavyweight ratings and be replaced at No. 10 by former champ Jean Pascal. Rodriguez will move up in the super middleweight rankings, from No. 9 to No. 7, ahead of Thomas Oosthuizen and Sakio Bika, who will each drop down a spot.

Robert Stieglitz won a lopsided 10th-round technical decision over Yuzo Kiyota. No movement for Stieglitz, who remains at No. 4 .

At middleweight, Max Bursak had a dominant win over Prince Aaron to retain his European title. Bursak will move into the No. 10 spot, replacing Brian Vera, who he soundly outpointed a few years ago. Solid win for Lukas Konecny over Moez Fhima.

At welterweight, Kell Brook returned to the ring to stop Carson Jones in eight rounds in a rematch victory. Brook retains his No. 3 rankings.

At junior welterweight Khabib Allakverdiev stopped faded former beltholder Souleymane M’Baye. No changes.

At junior lightweight, RING No. 8-rated Takahiro Ao had a second-round stoppage against Hardy Paredes.  Unrated Alejandro Perez had a decent win over Edgar Rioville. No changes.

At featherweight, Oscar Gonzalez beat up and coming Adrian Young, winning a wide decision. Unbeaten UK prospect Lee Selby beat Viorel Simon. No changes.

At junior featherweight, Chris Avalos had a solid decision win over Drian Francisco. No changes.

At bantamweight, Kohei Oba retained his Japanese national title stopping Satoshi Niwa in six. No changes.

At junior bantamweight, Arthur Villanueva stopped Arturo Badillo.  Villanueva will move up a spot, from No. 8 to No. 7, changing spots with Oleydong Sithsamerchai.

At junior flyweight, Ramon Hirales stopped Juan Hernandez in eight. No changes.

At strawweight, unbeaten WBO beltholder Merlito Sabillo stopped Jorle Estrada in nine. Sabillo will replace Jesus Silvestre at the No. 10 spot.
