Once-beaten Mexican junior lightweight contender Juan Carlos Burgos wants to face the winner of a likely November clash between WBO beltholder Roman “Rocky” Martinez and RING featherweight champion Mikey Garcia, Burgos’ promoter, Artie Pelullo, of Banner Promotions, said on Tuesday.

A 25-year-old with a record of 30-1-1 that includes 20 knockouts, Burgos was last in the ring for January’s disputed split-draw with Martinez.

Burgos, however, still is in search of a replacement opponent after Colombian Daulis Prescott (26-2, 19 KOs) cited kidney stones as his reason for pulling out of a scheduled July 26 fight at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Sacramento that was to be televised on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

“I have Burgos (No. 2 in the WBO) fighting on ESPN in an outdoor arena and he will fight in the main event on July 26,” said Pellulo. “So he’ll probably fight the winner between Mikey Garcia and Rocky Martinez, when that happens, for the WBO 130-pound title.”
