The past week was a quiet one but RING-rated veterans Tony Thompson and Felix Sturm scored knockouts that enabled them to hold on to their spots in the divisional rankings.

At heavyweight, Thompson repeated his stoppage win over David Price. Thompson stays at No. 9. Thompson went down in the second round but came back for TKO win in the fifth.

At middleweight, Sturm dropped Predrag Radosevic in the third and twice in the fourth, stopping Radosevic in the fourth. Sturm looked his usual competent self but we don’t know exactly what he has left until he faces a top-five contender. Sturm will stay at No. 3.

At lightweight, former featherweight title challenger Daud Yordan made a successful debut at 135 pound by out-pointing Daniel Brizuela to win the fringe IBO title. Kevin Mitchell won a decision against Journeyman Sebastian Benito. This was Mitchell’s first fight since losing to Ricky Burns almost a year ago. No change in the rankings.

At featherweight and former titleholder Billy Dib won a majority decision over Mike Oliver. Dib was docked two points by the referee for low blows but still worked his way back for a win. No changes.

At junior featherweight, Thabo Sonjica won by TKO in the sixth frame against former world title challenger Silvester Lopez. No changes.

At bantamweight Ryosuke Iwasa maintains his No. 10 rating with a shutout decision over journeyman Jecker Buhawe. No changes.

At flyweight, British and Commonwealth beltholder Kevin Satchel had a tough fight with Scottish prospect Ian Butcher. Satchel went 12 rounds for the second consecutive fight and is on the edge of breaking into the top 10.

At strawweight, Luis De La Rosa won an eight-round decision over journeyman Alfonso De La Hoz. De La Rosa is just outside the top 10; same for Kwanthai Sithmorseng who scored a fifth-round TKO over Madit Sada. No changes.
