Brandon Gonzalez faded late in his 10-round super middleweight bout with Thomas Oosthuizen but he landed the more effective punches en route to their HBO-televised split draw on Saturday in Mashantucket, Conn.

Gonzalez (17-0-1, 10 knockouts), a considerable underdog coming into the bout, won by a lopsided 98-92 score on one card, which was overruled by a 96-94 tally for Oosthuizen (21-0-2, 13 KOs). The third score had the bout even, 95-95, as many observers did.
