Three-division titleholder Shane Mosley, of Pomona, Calif., will face Mexico’s Pablo Cesar Cano in a welterweight bout on May 18 at a temporary, beach-front venue in front of The Grand Oasis in Cancun, Mex., Golden Boy Promotions announced on Tuesday.

The bout between Mosley (46-8-1, 39 knockouts) and Cano (26-2-1, 20 KOs) will be televised live on Fox Deportes in the United States and on Televisa in Mexico on a delayed basis. RingTV.com originally reported Mosley-Cano, which Golden Boy is promoting in association with Pepe Gomez Promotor Deportivo.

The fight card will air live at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT, while the Televisa version will broadcast on Canal 5 starting at 10:30 p.m. CT.

Mosley, who is 41, will return to action for the first time since losing s unanimous decision to unbeaten WBC junior middleweight beltholder Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last May. He is back in the 147-pound division for the first time since losing to Manny Pacquiao in May of 2011.

Mosley had considered a return in April against WBA welterweight titleholder Paulie Malignaggi at Barclays’ Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., before talks for their bout fell through.

Coming off split-decision loss to Malignaggi last October, Cano, 23, announced that he was pulling out of last month’s scheduled main event with Manuel Perez due to a severe flu and high fever.
