NEW YORK – Zanfer Promotions president Fernando Beltran feels that his client, Juan Manuel Marquez, will return the favor Manny Pacquiao extended to him in making a fourth fight by granting him a chance at vindication in a fifth fight.

Beltran, who is in New York City to support another client, WBO featherweight titleholder Orlando Salido, ahead of Saturday’s title defense against unbeaten Mikey Garcia at Madison Square Garden, tells THE RING that he thinks Marquez will give Pacquiao an opportunity to avenge his sixth-round knockout loss in December, just as Pacquiao allowed him to avenge the controversial decision of their third clash.

“Juan Manuel Marquez is a gentleman and we think Manny gave us the opportunity without needing to give us one and if we need to fight him, we will fight him,” said Beltran.

Like Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who represents Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 knockouts), Beltran feels the fight would have to take place outside of the United States to avoid overbearing income tax issues on foreign fighters. Arum mentioned Macau and Mexico City and a date in September yesterday to this writer, but Beltran feels Marquez’s hometown of Mexico City is the most feasible option.

“We will do it in an arena similar to Las Vegas with same prices,” said Beltran. “I think the economy in Mexico is going very nice and I think a lot of people from the States will go and buy the tickets.”

The fourth fight, which took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, had a decidedly pro-Marquez crowd on hand, suggesting that the 39-year-old Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KOs) may be at the peak of his popularity.

When asked if Marquez would seek a tune-up fight before facing Pacquiao again, Beltran said, “If Manny takes one, then we’ll take one.”
