Price claims Skelton bout is worthwhile

Unbeaten English heavyweight contender David Price will face veteran countryman Matt Skelton, in his home city of Liverpool, Merseyside, on Nov. 30.

Details of the British and Commonwealth holder’s second defense of both titles were announced Monday and, despite the fact Skelton (28-6, 23 knockouts) is well into his forties and way past his at-best journeyman-like peak, Price (14-0, 12 KOs) argues the outing is worthwhile.

“I am aware he is 45, but he has won major championships, he is a former European holder and has challenged for the world title,” said 29-year-old Price, who earlier this month took just 82 seconds to KO another past-it Brit, Audley Harrison.

“I have only boxed 14 times as a professional and I am still learning and Matt will bring something new for me – certainly something different to Audley Harrison.”
