A lot of action but only minimal movement. That’s the theme this week.

Two changes came out of the Antonio Tarver-Lateef Kayode card on Saturday in Carson, Calif.: Peter Quillin, who outpointed Winky Wright, and Austin Trout, who did the same against Delvin Rodriguez, cracked the Top 10 in their weight classes.

Members of THE RING Ratings Panel were against having Quillin enter the ratings because he has yet to beat an elite middleweight, which is a solid argument.

However, the Editorial Board decided to have Quillin enter at No. 10 for a number of reasons. Among them: Wright appears to retain enough of his once-impeccable skills at 40 to give almost anyone trouble; Sebastian Zbik (No. 10 last week) has shaky credentials; and the division isn’t deep. We believe Quillin (27-0, 20 knockouts) is one of the better middleweights around even if he still has a lot to prove.

So Quillin is in and Zbik, who has lost two in a row, is out.

The decision to have Trout enter the junior middleweight ratings was an easier one.

The Editorial Board decided it was time to remove Paul Williams (No. 8 last week) because his career appears to be over after he was severely injured in a motorcycle accident. And Trout (25-0, 14 KOs) defeated a capable opponent in Delvin Rodriguez fairly handily on Saturday.

Thus, Trout comes in at No. 10, which pushes Alfredo Angulo (No. 9 last week) and Cornelius Bundrage (No. 10 last week) up one notch each.

Tarver and Kayode? Some members of the Ratings Panel suggested we leave the ratings alone after the headliners fought to an unsatisfying draw. A few thought Kayode (No. 8 last week) should leap frog Guillermo Jones (No. 7 last week) because he drew with the No. 6-rated 200-pounder.

The Editorial Board decided to leave things as is because neither Tarver nor Kayode looked good.

And, finally, Leo Santa Cruz (No. 9 last week) jumps two spots after his sensational decision victory over Vusi Malinga to win the vacant IBF bantamweight title.

RING RATINGS UPDATE

Light heavyweight: Beibut Shumenov (No. 7 last week) retained his position after shutting out unrated Enrique Ornelas on Saturday in Las Vegas. Also, Karo Murat (No. 8 last week) stayed put after stopping unrated Sandro Siproshvili in seven rounds Saturday in Denmark.

Super middleweight: Sakio Bika (No. 5 last week) remained where he was after knocking out unrated Dyah Davis in the 10^th round on the Tarver-Kayode card.

Lightweight: Sharif Bogere (No. 10 last week) retained his position after stopping unrated Manuel Leyva in the second round on the Tarver-Kayode card.

Flyweight: Milan Melindo (No. 4 last week) stayed put after a first-round KO of unrated Jesus Geles on Saturday in the Philippines.

Junior flyweight: Donnie Nietes (No. 3 last week) remained where he is after he outpointed unrated Felipe Salguero on Saturday in the Philippines.

Strawweight: Moises Fuentes (No. 3 last week) retained his spot after stopping unrated Julio Cesar Felix in the first round on Saturday in Mexico.
