Athough he is gearing up for the June 9 defense against WBO junior welterweight titleholder Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao took a look back to offer his thoughts on November’s disputed majority decision over Juan Manuel Marquez.

The bout was the third between Marquez (53-6-1, 39 knockouts) and Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs), the previous two ending in a draw and a split-decision for the Filipino.

Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) is coming off an eighth-round knockout of faded former lightweight champ Joel Casamayor, a bout that took place on the Pacquiao-Marquez III undercard.

The following are Pacquiao training camp notes taken from a press release distributed by HBO on behalf of Top Rank Inc., the lead promoter of the Pacquiao-Bradley card.

While working with trainer, Freddie Roach, at the Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood, Calif., Pacquiao recently addressed whether or not he would face Marquez a fourth time.

But Pacquiao did not talk about a much-anticipated megafight with WBC welterweight and junior middleweight titleholder Floyd Mayweather, should he get beyond Bradley.

Questions for Pacquiao: What is it about Juan Manuel Marquez and his style that seems to give you trouble? Will you give him a fourth fight? Are there any options for you after this fight besides a fight with Marquez or Mayweather?

“I get asked a lot about my fights with Juan Manuel Marquez. Our trilogy has been as exciting for us as it has been for boxing fans. Juan really understands how to fight southpaws. He’s a very smart man and an excellent fighter.

“His deliberate and patient style of fighting is a product that comes from experience and experience against great opposition. He’s a brilliant counterpuncher. My trainer, Freddie Roach, has said many times that Juan is the only smart one out there; the only fighter who has figured me out.

“I know the fans want to see a fourth fight between us, and I can understand why. Right now, I can only focus on the task at hand, and that’s defending my title against Timothy Bradley. Just because Bradley is moving up in weight doesn’t mean he is at a disadvantage.

“Believe me I know. I’ve moved up in weight a few times myself. No one has ever beaten him. No one. Freddie and I have four weeks of very hard training to prepare for this fight. I cannot afford to be distracted by thinking of other fights. That is a lesson experience has taught me.”
