Khan will fight once more at 140 after December – if Bradley wants to fight

Amir Khan would be prepared to have one more title fight at junior welterweight – if WBO 140-pound beltholder Timothy Bradley is serious about wanting to take him on.

But the British star, who defends his WBA and IBF belts against Lamont Peterson in Washington next month, admits that scenario remains highly unlikely.

No matter what Bradley (27-0, 11 knockouts) and his advisors might have been saying recently, Khan (26-1, 18 KOs) reckons the American will continue to avoid getting into the same ring as him, meaning he has little option but to step up to welterweight in 2012.

“At 140 pounds, there’s no-one else for me to fight. I hold two of the world titles in the division, I’ve offered the likes of Bradley and Erik Morales but they’ve both turned the fights down. There’s no-one left,” said 24-year-old Khan, THE RING’s No 1 rated junior welterweight.

“We were very, very lucky to get Lamont Peterson on December 10. So I think the next move for me will be at 147, moving up there will give me a lot more fights – and bigger fights.

“There are talks about it (fighting Bradley) but I think that’s really a bit of hype. The contracts have been given to him twice and he’s refused to take a fight against me. Let’s just wait and see. If he does take on the fight, I will stay at 140 pounds for that one fight.”
