7. EVANDER HOLYFIELD

Fights: 12 (one no-contest)

Wins: 6

Losses: 5

Draws: 0

Title fights: 0-3

Summary: The five-time heavyweight champion, now 48, is maligned for fighting into his late 40s in part because of concern for his health. He has had his moments post-40, though.

Holyfield won four consecutive fights, including a victory over Fres Oquendo in 2006, to earn a shot at Sultan Ibragimov’s WBO title and gave a decent performance in defeat in 2007 in the winner’s native Russia. He then fought Nikolai Valuev for the giant’s WBA belt in Switzerland. Holyfield lost a majority decision but many believe he should’ve gotten the nod, which would’ve given him a sixth heavyweight title.

He subsequently beat Francois Botha and Brian Nielsen in fights akin baseball’s old-timers games. The Real Deal, who still looks fit and trim, has given no indication that he plans to retire.
